Program Changes as of May 1, 2020

The Health and Social Service program has streamlined its program plan options for students.  The program now offers two McMaster credentials for the program:
  • Health and Social Service Certificate of Completion:  Successfully complete 3 courses
  • Health and Social Service Certificate: Successfully complete 5 courses
Students enrolled in the program prior to May 1, 2020 may continue with their existing program plan or request a change to one of the new options.  Students should complete their existing program plan by April 30, 2021. To review program requirements, students should visit their Mosaic Student Centre - Program/Plan Advisement Report.

Health and Social Service Certificate of Completion or Certificate Requirements
To earn a Health & Social Service Certificate of Completion:
  • Successfully complete 3 courses (9 units) from the course list.
To earn a Health & Social Service Certificate:
  • Successfully complete 5 courses (15 units) from the course list.
Admission Requirements:

The Health and Social Service program is open enrolment, meaning you are not required to apply to the program for admission; however, you must have the following:
  • Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Be a mature student as defined in the Undergraduate Calendar of McMaster University 
  • Or be deemed an exceptional case
In order to ensure that students have the basic capabilities necessary to be successful in their online course, you are required to have the following pre-requisite knowledge and/or skills:
  • Knowledge and skills with general computer applications, such as keyboarding, file management, video talks, and word processing
  • Familiarity with internet browsers and web surfing 
English Language Proficiency requirements:
 
Completion of TOEFL exam with minimum acceptable score of IBT: 86 overall with a minimum score of 20 on each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening), valid for 2 years. "
