Your Career Path
The Indigenous Classroom Assistant diploma will prepare you for a career in Indigenous schools in northern communities. When you complete the program, you will be qualified to work as a classroom assistant with primary school children, under the professional direction of the classroom teacher and school principal.
In partnership with Nipissing University, Oshki-Wenjack’s special blended delivery method allows you to stay in your home community for half of the program (field placements).

Admission Requirements
- Ontario High School Diploma with Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U) or Mature Student Test (19 years +)
- Candidates without Grade 12 can be admitted if they are 21 years or older and have been out of school for two years or more.
- Complete up-to-date immunizations

- EDUC 1034 – Introduction to Canadian Indigenous Studies – 30 hours
- EDUC 1043 – Child Development – 30 hours
- EDUC 1063 – Information Technology in Classrooms – 30 hours
- EDUC 1124 – Introduction to Numeracy Strategies – 30 hours
- EDUC 2012 – Working with Indigenous Children with Special Needs 1 – 30 hours

Practicum I
