Robotics Technician Program

Description

The Robotics Technician training program introduces the concepts of industrial robots and explains how they can be used in a plant or manufacturing system. The primary focus of the program is on automated manufacturing processes, as well as the role of robots and all of their support equipment. Students receive both theoretical and laboratory instruction through a combination of multimedia learning resources and a robotics simulation software package to allow for the programming, testing and debugging of robot control programs. Areas of study include motion programming, palletizing, conveyor systems, computer networking, automated sorting systems, vision and tactile sensors and computer integration.

The program is divided into 13 modules, each consisting of about ten sections or major topics. Typical completion time for the program is 28 weeks. The program is delivered in an asynchronous format, which allows you to start and finish modules entirely at your own pace. There are no pre-set, scheduled completion times, which allow you to complete the course material at a rate that you are comfortable with.

Course material for the program is delivered and supported by a combination of USB or CD-ROM and online resources. The interactive curriculum uses text, video, 2D and 3D animations, photos, audio clips and interactive robotics simulations. Review questions, interactive exercises, lab projects and online support prepare you for computer-based final exams which are completed on-line. Tutorial and Technical support are provided on-line and via a toll-free telephone.

The robot simulation software, Robologix, provides access to a range of industrial robots including Cartesian and SCARA designs and includes various end effectors. Students gain practical, "hands on" programming of an industrial robot through a combination of teaching pendant programming, and 3D animations displaying the robot arm movement. 3D training environments include conveyor/palletizing, pick and place, spray painting and welding.

Why enroll in the program?
Our program offers:

* Flexibility to study at your own pace in your own home
* Upgrade your technical skills
* No expensive books or lab equipment required
* Pay-as-you-learn registration
*State-of-the-art Robotics simulation

The flexibility to study at your own pace in your own home:

Once registered in the program, students pay for and complete modules entirely on their own schedule. Open enrollment allows you the flexibility to complete modules at your own pace, in your own place. Typical program completion time is 28 weeks of part time study; however, students with prior training, experience, education or more time allocated to the program may complete it in less time. Non-traditional learners are welcoming the program. More than 20 percent of students enrolled in our technical distance education programs are women, compared with only 2 percent in our traditional classroom-based technology training program.

Upgrade your technical skills:

* Upgrade your skills and prepare yourself for entry into or promotion within the technical trades by completing the Robotics Technician Certificate program.

* Engineers will find this program helpful to provide a practical re-enforcement of the theoretical knowledge they have already attained.

* Tradespeople such as electricians, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics will benefit from the enhanced technical knowledge and skills they will attain from the in-depth course material combined with robotics simulation software.

No expensive books or lab equipment required:

The Robotics Technician Certificate program is delivered through an interactive learning package. Upon registration, students receive a USB or CD-ROM containing 13 modules of curriculum, Robotics laboratory simulation software; web based supplemental resources, online testing and toll-free tutorial and technical support. A supplemental textbook is also available to you at an additional cost.

Pay-as-you-learn registration:

With the pay-as-you-learn registration option, you can enroll in the program for as little as $490 which includes all learning materials, all learning materials, laboratory simulation software, user guide, and Module 1 exam and tutorial support. Registration for each of the remaining 12 modules is $90/module. You may register for one or more modules at any time.
