Retirement Communities Management (One-Year Ontario College Graduate Certificate)
Description
The Retirement Communities Management program is offered to meet the increasing demand for administrators in retirement homes and long term care facilities. The program will train students to plan and implement operational procedures and provide collaborative leadership in the retirement communities. Topics areas will include: Physical building considerations, financial management, food nutrition and hospitality management, healthy adult aging, human resources, marketing, client-centered care and the management of resources. Students will finish the program with a field placement which will give them an opportunity to relate classroom theory to the industry.
Admission Requirements
- Applicants must have successfully completed a recognized post-secondary institution degree or diploma in one of these preferred subject areas and/or have relevant management/work experience:
- Health Science/Community Service
- Food and Nutrition Management
- Recreation and Leisure
- Hospitality & Tourism
- Business Administration
- Must be proficient in English
- You must maintain an overall average of 60% or a GPA of 2.0 in order to graduate
- A minimum of 25% of courses must be completed through Durham College.
