Medical Surgical RPN Clinical
Description
This is a precepted clinical field practice course. Upon successful completion of course 1 & 2 theory-based concepts and principles, learners will be assigned to a clinical field nursing practice environment. The learners will engage in opportunities to build professional identity toward self-directed proficiency in providing safety and client care in acute care settings. Learners are required to apply the knowledge of the pre-requisite courses 1 & 2 with competency required in quality assurance and reflective practice. Learners will work collaboratively with the assigned preceptor to assess, plan, evaluate and document clients’ health-care needs and health outcomes using a theory-based approach and relevant evidence, standards and guidelines. Teaching methodologies include clinical practicum, online resources, and teacher and peer feedback activities. The learners will demonstrate adherence to the roles and responsibilities of a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario to be a competent and autonomous professional.
