Concepts in Nursing Practice
Description
This theoretical course focuses on learnings about the Canadian Healthcare System, relevant legislation, and College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Practice Standards and Guidelines, as well as legal and ethical principles. The learners will explore the many factors that influence the health and wellness of individual clients, families and communities. This course utilizes complex professional and client case scenarios and requires learners to apply nursing process in a problem-based approach to learning. In addition, learners will develop skills at finding evidence and reviewing literature for relevant concepts. A learning community will be created by which all students present their perspectives in a group discussion format on a wide variety of topics and support their discussion with valid and trustworthy sources. An introduction to pathophysiological mechanisms of disease will also be included.
