PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Prepare for a career as a travel advisor with Fanshawe’s Tourism - Travel Studies program. This one-year, online, Ontario College Certificate program is designed for students seeking a career in the travel and tourism industry and taking their career to the next level as a travel advisor. Learn the fundamentals of travel studies in a flexible learning environment designed to suit your lifestyle.
In our travel courses, you’ll learn customer sales and service, travel business operations, travel systems software and emerging technology trends. Graduates are prepared to take the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) exam, widely recognized as the industry standard for travel advisors. Additionally, employers recognize that this program is officially endorsed by the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA). Upon graduation, students may choose to continue their studies by entering the second year of the Tourism - Travel diploma program.
Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or mature applicant with the following courses:
- Grade 12 English (C or U)
- Grade 11 Math (C, M or U)
Students who do not meet these requirements are recommended for academic upgrading. A conditional offer may be possible with proof of enrolment.

Career Information
Graduates of Fanshawe's Tourism - Travel Studies program may find employment in the retail travel industry as travel advisors, home-based travel agents and independent consultants.
