Professional English as a Second Language
Description
Program Overview
The online Professional English as a Second Language certificate* incorporates exceptionally rich and interactive multimedia lessons that simulate a wide variety of business-related communication situations. Our courses place a strong focus on comprehension, written and spoken expression, professional English vocabulary, and grammar while incorporating interesting aspects from English culture. We have enhanced our online language courses in a number of ways which go beyond traditional online learning environments.
Our virtual classroom allows you to drop in and speak face-to-face with your instructor or classmates, providing you with individualized attention and support. Our online courses further build a strong community of learners through online discussion forums in English. The courses will also provide you with a vast array of additional resources beyond the required course material.

Intensive Program
Students can now choose to complete English 1&2, 3&4 or 5&6 in the same semester. This stream will allow students to complete the Professional English as a Second Language certificate in one year rather than two when starting at Level 1.
For students interested in the intensive program, you do not need to register and pay for both classes at the same time - you can register and pay for the second class when it begins.

English Language Placement Test
The placement test was designed to help you informally assess your English language proficiency to gain a better idea of which course to begin your English studies. If you have no previous English language experience, you are welcome to take the test but should register into English 1. The placement test focuses on knowledge of basic grammatical structures - it does not evaluate oral and written skills. The placement test contains 50 multiple choice questions. It is recommended that you take the test without the use of any study aids to obtain a more accurate result. Once the test is completed, your results will be emailed to you.
