French Language I

Description

The French Department offers two diplomas:
  • French Language I
  • French Language II
Students who have completed the required courses can apply for the appropriate diploma on the Application to Graduate form.
 
If students completed all requirements prior to September 2019, please contact the Undergraduate Administrative Coordinator and Advisor for assistance in receiving the certificate. 
 
Diplomas will appear on the official transcript and students will receive a paper diploma at graduation. Certificates were issued by the department and do not appear on the official transcript.
 
Please note that diplomas 1 and 2 are mutually exclusive. Only one diploma can be granted. Diplomas will not be awarded to students who are completing, or have completed, a French Major or Minor. The following courses do not count for the Diplomas in French language: FR 291, FR 292.
 
For students enrolled in degree programs or any non- or post-degree academic plan, two language diplomas are offered: French Language I and French Language II. Students must successfully complete two academic course units (four courses) with a minimum cumulative diploma average of 65% as follows:
 
Diploma in French Language I
  • FR 151, FR 152, FR 192A, FR 192B (see Note 1).
Diploma in French Language II
  • FR 192B, FR 251, FR 252, and one other course taught in French at the 200-level or above.
Notes
  1. Students seeking to complete the Diploma in French Language I who do not take FR 151 must take an additional course at the 200-level or higher in substitution.
  2. Diplomas I and II are mutually exclusive. Only one diploma can be granted
