Our certificate can be completed in as little as one year, and you can do your small business courses online. This way, you can continue to plan or run your business while improving your skills at the same time.
 
Our online entrepreneurship courses will teach you about things like small-business management, entrepreneurial behaviour and strategy, and how to identify business opportunities. It also will show you how to run a new venture start-up as well. Our instructors have many real-world lessons to share and a wealth of experience, thanks to their work with Canada’s largest undergraduate entrepreneurship and innovation program.
 
Once you finish your entrepreneurship certificate, you can use all the material you’ve created during your entrepreneur courses to help promote your business to financiers and investors, and run it as smoothly and profitably as possible.

Who should take this Entrepreneurship and Small Business certificate?
  • You’re aiming to launch, or have recently launched, a small business and need to hone your business skills, including developing business and marketing plans and identifying market opportunities
  • You’re a business owner that wants to scale and improve your profitability and processes
  • You’re a manager in a medium or large public, private, or nonprofit organization who wants to more effectively promote innovative product development and marketing as a workplace intrapreneur
  • You’re a newcomer and want to learn the ways of Canadian entrepreneurship and small business management
Admission Criteria:

Recommended:
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
  • With 6 Grade 12 U or M credits OR
  • Mature student status
Certificate Requirements:
  • 4 required courses
  • 2 electives*
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 1.67+
*You must consult with the academic coordinator. With the submission of an approved Continuing Education Certificate Exemption (Substitution/Directive) Form signed by the academic coordinator, you will complete 2 courses relevant to your entrepreneurial and small business interests (as indicated in your business plan developed in CENT 500).

To graduate, you must successfully complete, within your official time span, the requirements from the year you registered in the program.
