Case Management Competency Training for Social Services
Description
The Case Management Competency Training for Social Services is part of the Future Ready Initiative sponsored by the Aga Khan Council of Canada and in partnership with Sheridan College. It is an integrated, institutional response to some of the most significant and urgent changes facing Canadians today. This program responds to four inter-related needs within the community:
1. Family development
2. Employment, including the Future of Work and Future of Business
3. Mental health
4. Youth mentorship and leadership development
5. Youth Mentorship
This training is made up of six stand-alone micro-certifications that addresses one core competency per module required for the Navigator role. The core competencies have been identified from those established in existing Case Worker certificate courses and Aga Khan Council for Canada education goals for the Navigator role. The competencies identified can be linked to the key areas of the Future Ready Initiative Case Management Process.
Specific competencies covered in these modules will include:
- Discovery - motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, supporting newcomers
- Family Plan Development – goal-setting principles
- Family Plan Implementation Strategies – empowerment and fostering independence
Each micro-certification will be 60-90 minutes of self-directed, asynchronous learning activities that participants review at their own pace. Upon completion of each micro-certification, there will be a final assessment for participants to demonstrate mastery of the key competency for the module.
