Statistics and Research Methods
Description
The student will learn the principles and methods used in health research with a focus on quantitative, qualitative and combined research methods. An overview of research methodology, rigor, bias and research ethics are taught in order to critically appraise research papers. Methods used to describe and present information in scientific research will be introduced to draw conclusions about populations based data samples. Selected inferential statistical techniques, variation, summary values and central tendencies will be taught to understand conclusions drawn from specific research results.
