safeTALK

Description

In 2020, 3,839 Canadians died by suicide (Statistics Canada). It is the 12th leading cause of death in our country, and the fourth leading cause of death among 15–19 year-olds worldwide (World Health Organization). safeTALK is a 3-hour face-to-face workshop designed to prepare anyone over the age of 15 to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them directly to a trained helper. This workshop is led by a skilled, supportive safeTALK trainer, who incorporates video clips, discussion, and practice to help you learn these important skills. safeTALK training helps break down suicide stigma in the community and helps participants notice and respond to situations when suicide thoughts may be present using the TALK method: Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe.
