Regulation of Food Products and Agrichemicals
Description
In this course students explore the fundamental hazards responsible for food borne illness and the Canadian regulatory requirements to minimize risk, through industry compliance. Students describe and interpret the regulations governing the trade of food and the safety of food production and the safety of imported food. Students describe and apply the regulatory compliance requirements for consumer protection including but not limited to: food labelling, standards of identity, bilingual labelling requirements. Students determine how to obtain CFIA licenses and permissions and how navigate CFIA web-based systems to obtain them. Students describe and apply compliance requirements for Plants with Novel Traits and Novel Foods and learn how to obtain permissions for release in Canada.
