Professional Growth

This course will explore the evolution of nursing, various nursing theorists, and will examine the development of a personal philosophy of nursing. The learner will be introduced to the College of Nurses of Ontario's (CNO) professional standards of practice and quality assurance reflective practice process. The course will also examine personal learning styles, the concepts of teaching and learning, and their significance to the nursing role. Research, current issues related to technology and nursing informatics as well as the purpose and types of documentation as it relates to safe and ethical nursing practice will also be explored. This course will support the knowledge that is required during clinical scenarios, as they occur throughout the Practical Nursing program.
