Police Powers I
Description
This course examines a number of pertinent areas of policing and police powers including: sections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms that impact on Canadian criminal procedures, citizen and police powers of arrest, release authorities, and police discretion. Through a variety of teaching strategies including practical scenarios, students have the opportunity to examine the procedures involved in arrest, release, and use of discretion. TEXTBOOK REQUIRED. 30 hours.
