Payroll Administration

Description

In this course, students will learn the framework and the knowledge behind administering a payroll system. Topics include maintaining payroll records; salaried, hourly, commission, piecework and contract workers; taxable benefits; statutory and other deductions; preparation of payroll journal entries; preparation of record of employment; preparation of T4s, T4As and T4 Summary; workers' compensation; employment standards; pay equity; and computerized payroll using both a personal computer database and using an outside payroll service. Please note that students who choose to take an online section of this course must write the final exam in person, at either the Humber North or Lakeshore campus, or, if located more than 100km from the campus, through an approved proctoring facility. Any costs associated with this are the sole responsibility of the student.
