Occupational Health & Safety Legislation
Description
This course will provide students with an analytical understanding of current provincial and federal health & safety legislation and its application and implications in the workplace. Topics include WHMIS, WSIA, Canada Labour Code, AODA, Occupational Health and Safety Act, roles and functions of health and safety committees and representatives and an understanding of duties and responsibilities of various stakeholders. A strategic perspective will be utilized to explain the necessity for safety compliance and the importance of due diligence when facing an investigation. The implications of prosecution will also be discussed.
