Occupational Health and Safety

Description

Students will learn the fundamental concepts of occupational health and safety with specific reference to health care environmental services operations under Ontario legislation. Students will learn to identify and recognize physical, psychological, biological, and chemical hazards in the workplace, as well as how to remove or control them to make the workplace safer. Students will adopt the new Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), and the impact of effective hazard warnings in public and private life. Notes A minimum grade of 50% (D) is required in each of the practical and theoretical components to pass each course. Attendance is mandatory.
