Nephrology Nursing - Clinical Practicum for the RN
Description
This course is a clinical practicum experience that provides the Registered Nurse with the opportunity to observe and participate in the care of clients at affiliated clinical agencies. Integration of the nursing theories and evidence-based interventions learned in all pre-requisite certificate courses is required. The student will be preceptored by a nurse employed in the specialty area and have their practice evaluated based on the course learning objectives, national nephrology competencies, and the practice standards and guidelines set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). A clinical learning plan, scholarly written assignment, and log of student hours will be evaluated by Humber College faculty according to expectations provided.
The Nephrology Nursing-RN clinical is 96 hours and must be completed within a 3-month term. Nurses are required to do two shifts weekly following their preceptor’s schedule.
