Mental Health Nursing, Introduction

This introductory online course will serve as the theoretical basis and prerequisite for all other courses in the Mental Health Nursing Certificate Program. The focus will be on current trends in mental health, therapeutic relationships with mental health clients, introduction to mental health law, basic knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, mental status assessments, health teaching, and care planning. Pharmacological treatments will also be discussed for each major diagnostic category.
