Mental Health And Wellness 2

Description

This course is a continuation of CYCP 113 (Mental Health 1) and is designed to examine specific mental health disorders of childhood, adolescence and young adulthood as part of a continuum of development. The student will explore the descriptions of behaviours, etiology, and treatment using a strengths-based approach in their documentation. An exploration of societal perspectives of abnormal behaviour and the ethical use of mental health terms and labels will be a theme throughout the course. The DSM-V will be used as a framework for understanding mental health disorders in this course.

Students will work independently and in groups throughout this course in an effort to build upon their learning and skill set of mental health and how it manifests in young people. Students will work to research, reflect, debate, compare, design and evaluate their learning both in class and utilizing technology-based resources.
