Level 1: Breastfeeding Basics
Description
Examine global strategies designed to promote, protect and support breastfeeding. Basic anatomy and physiology of human lactation, and ways to normalize breastfeeding and infant behavior will be examined through discussions about skin to skin, KMC and baby led latching. Students are assisted to develop skills to support breastfeeding during pregnancy and after birth by their utilization of communication theory and principles of adult teaching and learning.
