Leading by Design
Description
This course undertakes the study of organizations, large and complex, small, medium and not-for profit and the particular design that fits the organization's strategy. Interactive case studies are used to build an understanding of organization theory and design, open systems (internal & external environments), organizational settings and dimensions including culture and ethical values, innovation and changes, decision making and organizational conflict, power and politics. Students learn the role of design in company transformations toward knowledge sharing, empowerment of employees, new structures, new cultures, the breaking down of barriers between departments and organizations, and the joining together of employees in a common mission.
