Introduction to Nuclear Science
Description
An introductory course for art students with little or no previous background in nuclear or radiation science. This course will review the basic terminology and science of nuclear engineering. The current atomic structure models and the processes of radioactive decay are explained and discussed. Interaction of the various types of radiation with matter is covered, and this basis is used for the introduction of the subsequent subjects, including radiation detection, measurement, and shielding.
