Emergency Nursing - Trauma

Description

Emergency Nursing: Caring for Special Populations focuses on people who present to the emergency department with health concerns that require specialized knowledge and consideration. . Concepts include assessment and application of critical thinking when prioritizing care for patients who have a past medical history of hematological disorders, oncology diagnosis, or are immunocompromised. As well as caring for critical care patient in the ED setting. Assessment and management of toxicological emergencies and poisoning, including alcohol ingestion will be discussed. Communication skills required in the ER specific to mental health are introduced as part of developing a therapeutic nurse patient/family relationship and to enhance interprofessional collaboration. Environmental considerations including infection control, for immunocompromised populations geriatric populations and advocacy for appropriate pain management for people who experience acute or chronic pain and acute on chronic pain.
