Crime in the Digital Age
Description
When it comes to digital choices for the future, we should be careful what we ask for. The rogue community is alive and thriving. This course explores scientific, regulatory and constitutional issues associated with technology crime in Canada and internationally. Topics include a critical analysis of the legal, ethical, and public policy debates involving such topics as hacking, genetic experimentation and transfer, data brokering, securitizing our social selves, roguery on the darknet, best digital evidence, emoji as crime, the bias in artificial intelligence, facial recognition, online election rigging, regulating the gig economy, reputational privacy, and cybersecurity compliance. The course will appeal to those interested in privacy and security law, criminal law, biotechnology law, and related disciplines.
