Creative Curriculum
Description
This course builds on the content from Applied Curriculum (ECE 2045) recognizing the importance of creative experiences in young children's learning and development. This course reflects the application of theory to practice in the development of creative curriculum for children from infancy to school age. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to theories of artistic development in children through a variety of process oriented creative experiences that they can implement with children from infancy to school age. This course will explore visual art, creative movement and music, puppets, drama, and storytelling activities. Attention will be given to the process of integrating creative activities throughout a play-based curriculum. The role of the adult in planning and creating environments and materials that support arts-based learning and development in the context of family, culture, and community will be explored
