College Communications 3

Description

COMM 180 reinforces students' academic writing skills, with an emphasis on exposition, analysis, and argumentation in response to various forms of literature, which embody a range of human experience. Academic study of literature encourages students to develop critical thinking skills by reading and interpreting literature from a variety of contexts, including culture, gender, and time periods.

In COMM 180, emphasis will be placed on writing clearly and correctly to express understanding of the themes, structures, and techniques of the required readings, which fall into the genres of fiction, poetry, or drama. This literary understanding may be related to the students' program focus. A major research project, in which students explore a variety of literary works and some theoretical texts, forms part of the course.
