Welcome to our unique course on Project Management and Event Planning! Over the span of fourteen weeks, we will dive into the fundamental principles of Project Management, coupled with hands-on team work to design a three-day conference for a fictitious company. In the first seven weeks, we'll explore the essential phases of Project Management, breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand modules. From project initiation to planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, you'll gain a solid understanding of how to effectively manage projects of any scale. Each week, we'll provide real-world examples and practical exercises to reinforce your learning, ensuring you're well-equipped to tackle any project challenges. The following seven weeks will be devoted to group work, where you'll apply your new-found knowledge to plan a three-day conference from scratch. Drawing upon your prior learning and experience in the Office Administration - Executive program at Fanshawe College, you'll collaborate with your peers to brainstorm ideas, develop a comprehensive plan, and execute it with precision. Throughout this process, you'll have the opportunity to reflect on your learning journey and integrate it into your conference planning, preparing you for real-world project management scenarios. By the end of the course, you'll not only have a solid grasp of Project Management principles but also invaluable experience in event planning, setting you up for success in your future endeavors.
