Advanced Human Biology

Description

In this course, you will investigate cellular and genetic concepts and processes essential to produce and sustain living organisms. You will examine characteristics unique to eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, including membrane and cell structure, metabolism, cell division and reproduction. The historical experiments that led to the discovery of DNA and RNA as nucleic acids will be studied, followed by examining their roles in gene expression, Mendelian genetics, cancer, and DNA technology. Lastly, you will explore the evidence and mechanisms of natural selection and the impacts of evolution. Experimentations/ simulations, problem sets, and demonstrations will reinforce your understanding of essential cellular structures and biological processes presented in this course.
