ACE TESOL Certificate program

NOTES on Fall 2021 Program Delivery: The online delivery format is comprised of 1 synchronous (LIVE virtual online) session for 2 hours every week for a total of 16 weeks (not inclusive of the class that falls on reading week in both the fall and winter terms; the rest of the program is delivered in an asynchronous (individually guided) online format. Our certificate program: Emphasizes practical teaching skills by integrating the following course methodology: pair work, small group work, class discussions, teaching demonstrations, and micro-teaching to enhance each participant's learning experience. Updates its curriculum annually to reflect industry changes and to incorporate current language learning research. Offers highly experienced, professional, and energetic trainers to facilitate and motivate participants' learning. Provides a professional, internationally recognized English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching credential - TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Canada Standard One (Interim). The ACE TESOL Certificate program is a 100 hour TESL Certificate program (which enables successful participants to apply to become TESL Canada or CTESOL (through TESL Ontario) certified. The classroom component of this program is comprised of 100 hours of class content (32 hours delivered synchronously - LIVE virtual class sessions and the remaining hours, 68 delivered asynchronously - individually guided, online. The modules cover the following: Learning: learning theory, speaking, writing, listening, and reading Teaching: methodology, lesson planning, classroom management techniques, and language assessment Language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation There is also a practicum component with 2 options: 20-hour practicum: 10 hours of observation, 10 hours of supervised teaching?leads to professional certification 10-hour practicum: 6 hours of observation, 4 hours of assisting an English Language Teacher/Instructor-does not lead to professional certification Participants in our program are also required to complete assessments: An observation report Quizzes Task journals Lesson Plan Portfolio Evaluated microteaching The ACE TESOL Diploma program is a 150 hour TESL Diploma program (which enables successful participants of both the ACE TESOL Certificate and ACE TESOL Diploma program to apply to become TESL Ontario (OCELT) certified. The classroom component of this program is comprised of 150 hours of online instruction and 30 hours of supervised practicum placement. The ACE TESOL certificate program (or other TESL Canada Standard Level One course -or equivalent - is a prerequisite for admission. The delivery method of this course would be in a blended format which would run for a duration of 15 weeks with 3 hours a week of synchronous - LIVE virtual class sessions and 7 hours a week of asynchronous - individually guided, online content delivery.
